Spray painting is always used by professional shops to give the highest quality finish in much less time. It doesn't matter if you want to renovate your kitchen cupboards, finish the piece of furniture you just finished building, or spray your car to fix a minor dent. Learning how to spray paint gives you a skill that will allow you to achieve a high quality finish on any project. If you want to learn how to spray paint, and how to use different materials like water based paint, oils, stains, or masonry paint, then this is the course for you. We go through everything from the basics of the guns to how to clean them when you are done. Course content: - Compressors/turbines (type, size, fittings, hoses, CFM and FAD, filters). - Gun types - Conventional, HVLP, LVMP, LVLP (gravity or suction). - Needle, air cap and nozzle choice - Setting up the gun - Materials you can spray – water based, solvent based, spirit-based and oil-based. - Viscosity requirements and mixing ratio importance. - Measuring cups. - Catalysed and pre-catalysed materials. - What are 1K and 2K, single stage and two stage, 1 part and 2 part materials. - How to mix and use 1K and 2K materials for furniture and automotive spraying. - Special safety requirements when using 2K and other harmful chemicals. - Automotive base coats and clear coats. - Furniture basecoats and lacquers, pigmented lacquers, and colour matching services. - Pressures and fan patterns. - Speciality effects like dying, tints and ageing. - Spraying techniques. - Stripping and cleaning the equipment. - Health and safety. - Tips and ideas for making a home spray booth. Course located in Surrey. Social distancing. Class numbers will be restricted to no more than two people. Those attending class will be asked to bring their own masks and gloves please. Benches and tools will be wiped before use. All courses are taught in the Great British Woodshop as seen on the Discovery Channel TV series by presenter David Free. Number of students: 2 max. Safety equipment (face masks and gloves) provided, but wear long sleeve shirts and work trousers and old shoes. This is paint we're dealing with, so you may get some on you. This is a hands on course for 1-2 people, you will be mixing paints, spraying, and cleaning guns.
What's included in the price?
All materials are provided. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. There is no lunch provided, so please bring your own, or there is a local shop 1 min drive away. Local train station is approximately 10 mins walk, and parking is available at the workshop. Those attending class will be asked to bring their own masks and gloves please. Please arrive five minutes before the start time, there is parking available on the driveway.
