Modern Rag Rug Techniques Workshop at Kirkstall Forge

X

Description

Rag Rugging is a technique traditionally used to turn rags into textural rags. In this open ended session you'll learn two versatile rag rug techniques that can be used to make a piece of wall art, homewares, a brooch or more. As rag rugging takes a long time to complete you may not finish your piece in the session (but if you opt to do a brooch you will do) but will go away with tools and skills to complete it. There will be a wide range of fabric scraps, recycled materials, colourful rope, buttons and other things to choose from to make your piece unique. Suitable for over 15s. This workshop will take place in Butlers at Kirkstall Forge. There's a train station on site and Kirkstall Forge wants to encourage sustainability, but if you'd like a parking space let me know and we can get one arranged. The cafe won't be open and due to covid I can't bring refreshments at the moment, but you're welcome to bring you own! Course conditions: The workshop needs minimum numbers to run. In the unlikely event it doesn't meet this number, the workshop may be cancelled at short notice and you will be entitled to a full refund. There will be hand sanitiser available, social distancing in place and spaces will be limited. You'll be required to wear a mask unless medically exempt. If you feel unwell, have symptoms of covid or have been in contact with anyone who has please let me know so you can be moved onto a future session. If we go into another lockdown this workshop will be postponed until a safe date. If you have a booking for another workshop that hasn't been rescheduled yet and would like to book onto this instead let me know!

Sessions are based on encouraging sustainability - mostly working across West Yorkshire, South Devon, Dorset and Hampshire and the surrounding areas, but willing to travel. Workshops are run with a relaxed, informal and inclusive atmosphere, letting people go at their own pace.
