Clamshell Applique in the Lake District
Description
There are many ways to prepare clamshells and piece them together. In this full day workshop you will have the opportunity to try out seven methods of preparing clamshells, and three different ways to piece them. You will try out a quick and easy machine method and make three mug rugs, each using a different way to piece the clamshells, as well as trying out a second machine technique. Your tutor, Molly, will also introduce you to five ways of preparing clamshells by hand, including her own method that does not use papers. You will be shown three ways to piece clamshells and mixing clamshells with the apple core. There will not be time to try out ALL the different methods during the day, but each will be explained and you can then choose which methods to spend your time exploring. The workshop will take place in our beautiful converted barn on our Lakeland hill farm near Kendal, Cumbria. The stunning views from the large window may be a slight distraction but the peace and tranquillity of the setting make it a great place to learn a new skill. After 35 years as an Occupational Therapist working for the NHS, Molly changed direction to focus on teaching skills to others, and working on her own projects. She has had a lifelong interest in knitting, sewing, textiles and techniques to embellish fabrics. She is an experienced tutor offering tuition at a wide range of venues.
