He taught us many of the core techniques that we could then use to work on our projects, and was always on hand to help and advise. We both came with custom ideas and Richard helped us break them down into understandable steps so we could work on them all the way through to completion. Couldn’t recommend this course more highly! "I have been wanting to forge my own knife for a long time and this year I was lucky enough to receive it as a Christmas present. Honestly one of the best presents I've ever had. Richard was such a great teacher, able to guide me through the entire process as well as excitedly talking about the theory of blacksmithing and forging. My knife is perfect, incredibly sharp and extremely pretty. I would 100% recommend this as a gift or if you want to try making something for yourself. "

"My 16 yr old has expressed an interest in Blacksmithing and after a rather difficult year with Long covid I decided to get him an experience with Richard for a gift . Richard was very welcoming, & knowledgable ... my son had a brilliant morning crafting a Viking womens knife . He has some experience anyway with welding & so loved getting to craft his knife . The forge is set in a picturesque village and Richard is really generous with his time. We shall definitely go back . Many thanks Richard "

"Went on the Damascus blade making course with my mate, we both throughly enjoyed it, Richard is a great teacher, very easy to get along with, well equipped and very knowledgable. We came out with a beautiful knife each, with different blade shapes as Richard allowed us to have free expression over what we make. Making them was very easy and didn’t produce any mistakes due to his watchful eye and mentoring. 10/10 would recommend. "
