Lynn Fotheringham reviewed: Lakeland Landscape - gouache & mixed media at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District National Park

"Stunning venue in the Kentmere valley. We were warmly welcomed and shown great hospitality by the owner, George Grange. George's soups and cakes are brilliant. The watercolour course was run by Karen Lester who has the talent and skill to put everyone at their ease and help all of us, regardless of ability, learn new techniques and approaches to watercolour. The best day out; a one day holiday with wood burner, paints and cake. Who could ask for more?"

Cowshed Creative responded:

"Thank you Lynn. You lovely comments are so appreciated. Looking forward to seeing you again."

Rosie Hancock reviewed: Silver Clay Jewellery at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District near Windermere and Kendal

"A perfect and wonderful way to spend a day with like minded people. The setting was wonderful and the weather was glorious. I think I was glad I’d put a little thought into my creation but still felt like I couldn’t commit when the time came to it! Not sure whether I’d gone with too many ideas and going with a more clueless approach would have been better(?). Love the fact we left the session with a finished piece. Nothing seemed too much bother for Jo. She worked around the group expertly supporting everyone. I enjoyed the explanations she gave around how to work with the clay, why things would and wouldn’t work. The session ran over expected time but this didn’t seem an issue. No feeling of being rushed. Obviously there was a little time pressure as we couldn’t stay all day and night! Although I didn’t need it, Jo provided a sort of after-course service to help people get their desired finished for pieces. I thought this was an exceptional service from a tutor. Definitely inspired to do some more creating of my own. Would look into doing another silver clay knowing what I know now! Have booked another course for this summer at The Cowshed already!"

Cowshed Creative responded:

"Thanks so much for such detailed feedback. I have passed your lovely comments on to Jo and look forward to seeing you again."

Anne Boyle reviewed: Raku pottery at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District National Park near Kendal and Windermere

"Received a friendly welcome to the beautiful and comfortable venue-great facilities. Hadn't done any pottery before and was a bit apprehensive but the course leader flexi-ed activities to allow more experienced participants to expand tasks as he supported the various ability levels. Glazing our pots on the second day then waiting to see how the firing affected the finished effect was exciting and absorbing. Lunch on both days was delicious (as was the range of cake!) Would highly recommend Cowshed Creative Raku pottery course."

Cowshed Creative responded:

"Many thanks for such positive comments and hope to see you again soon."

Belinda Worsley reviewed: Raku pottery at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District National Park near Kendal and Windermere

"This is the second course I’ve taken part in at Cowshed Creative & once again it was excellent. The first Saturday was spent making pots after a great introduction to the Raku process & some examples of Raku tea bowls etc. Various techniques for hand building were shown to us & we in turn each made a few different pots to be fired. The second Saturday we were given more of the history of Raku before then glazing & Raku firing our pots made the previous week in an outdoor kiln & dustbin of sawdust & wood chips. It was so exciting to see the results! And the effects were really quite magical. I can’t fault the excellent tuition, and once again the fabulous location, facilities & delicious food. Perfect."

Cowshed Creative responded:

"Thanks again for such lovely feedback. Some amazing pots and an exciting day!"

Catherine Amor reviewed: Bead and Wire jewellery: a Cowshed Creative workshop, in the Lake District National Park near Kendal and Windermere

"This course was a fantastic experience. My reasons for choosing this course: 1. I already knew Amanda as a tutor and wanted to work with her again. She is patient, talented and very well organised. I like her as a person and really admire her work. I'm not naturally crafty but I knew she would ensure I made a lovely ring. 2. George's barn is such a beautiful place. It has been so well renovated and the scenic surroundings make it a joy to visit. George went to great lengths to cater for my allergies and the food was delicious. She was so attentive, making teas and coffees and ensuring we were all comfortable. 3. It was a great opportunity to make a ring with my son (age 23). The day was his birthday present and he wanted to make a ring for his partner. I knew it would be a friendly environment and a small enough group for us all to chat and enjoy each others company. We had a wonderful day and I would definitely do it again."

Isobel Atlasi reviewed: Shibori & indigo dye at Cowshed Creative, the Lake District National Park, near Windermere

"What a wonderful day....cold and wet June outside but a warm welcome at the Shibori Dye workshop despite our late arrival! My 2 daughters and I really enjoyed learning about different techniques in the lovely company of other like minded crafters. We produced lots of samples following Kate's instructions, getting carried away in the process. A lovely lunch was provided followed by cake and refreshments from George. Can really recommend this course and great value for money. The only decision I must make now, what to do with the samples I produced....maybe incorporate into a quilt or some nice cushions! Many thanks to our lovely host and tutor and looking forward to visiting again at some point."

Cowshed Creative responded:

"Thank you for such kind words. It was really fun to meet you and your daughters and we look forward to seeing you again."
