Willow Garden Panels (1 day) in the Peak District
Description
Spend a happy day in the garden at Zantium Studios making your own willow panel, screen, or hurdle. Follow traditional heritage techniques or adopt a more decorative approach. Practical skills for gardeners to create attractive barriers, screening, or border edging. Anthony will also explain the basics of planting living willow in your garden to build larger structures at home. Course open to all – from beginners to those with experience. Come rain or shine, this class will take place outdoors. The garden backs onto fields with views across to Carsington Water making it a lovely place to work. Tutor: Anthony Hammond Anthony is an award winning artist, sculptor and craftsman based in North Staffordshire. Skilled in a range of creative and sculptural techniques, he works in a variety of media including willow, ‘green’ wood, and stone. Start time: Join us from 9.30am for tea/coffee and introductions. Tuition starts at 10.00am. There are breaks for lunch and a tea and cake mid-afternoon. End time: The class finishes around 5.00pm • Purpose built studio in beautiful Peak District setting. • Relaxed, creative atmosphere. • 4 - 8 students per workshop. • Open to both beginners and those with experience. • Good fresh food, homemade cakes. • Accommodation on site and nearby if required. • Private groups welcome (minimum 4 people). What's included in the price?
The course fee includes professional tuition, lunch and refreshments. There is an additional materials fee of approx £25 per person for the willow used on the day. All tools are provided but feel free to bring your own secateurs if you wish. We offer a tasty picnic lunch and homemade cake mid-afternoon. Drinks and biscuits are available all day to help yourself. Please let us know of any special dietary needs. 'The Counting House' is a mile from the Zantium Studio in the town of Wirksworth. It has one double bedroom (ensuite)
The Zantium Studio is on the first floor which involves a flight of 11 steps. There is a handrail to one side.
The toilet is on the first floor directly opposite the Studio.
There are a number of exterior stone steps and uneven ground from the car park to the house.
