Description
Enjoy a morning or afternoon painting session (day/course also available) in a bright dedicated art studio and build on your watercolour skills in order to experience the delicate beauty of this medium for beginners and improvers alike. Floral themes give you an opportunity to put theory (colour relationships and mixing) and essential watercolour techniques into practice. You will be guided on how to deconstruct and draw different flower groups as a foundation to the painting. Individual sessions will focus on acquiring and developing watercolour dry and wet painting techniques as well as how to create washes and gradations, layering and masking skills. You will build on your ability to use colour, create different colour palettes (natural and chromatic) and understand how tone is key in using watercolour. We will also look at different markmaking techniques and brush handling, the use of different weights and types of paper, use of gumarabic and salts, as well as best practice in how to organise your workspace. Alongside working from a floral theme you can also explore how to create contrasts in your own experimental landscape paintings. Through these themes you can develop your own style, learn key compositional and drawing skills and gain confidence in your ability to use this medium.
