Textures in the Lakeland Landscape at Cowshed Creative

Description

Focusing on the beautiful mosses, lichens and trees in the landscape this workshop looks at ways to combine drawing and gouache painting to create marks, texture and colour in your landscape paintings. The day will start indoors developing skills and then we will go outdoors, weather permitting, to work directly from observation. You will combine wet and dry media, exploring the qualities of gouache, inks and pencil. Beginners and those with some experience welcome. Karen Lester enjoys working with a range of painting and drawing media including printmaking, sometimes combining these to create mixed media images. Each type of medium brings its own exciting possibilities and unique qualities, something she continually explores. Her studio base is in the south Lake District, an area where she can spend time immersed in the landscape, a source of endless inspiration. Karen’s work has been exhibited in galleries throughout the North West over the last 25 years. She is a very experienced teacher. The workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, in a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. What's included in the price?

Cost: £78 includes some great tuition, a stunning venue, tea and coffee throughout the day and home made tray bake. You need to bring your own packed lunch. There is a fridge and microwave if required. You will receive a list of materials you will need to bring to the workshop
