Description
Level: Intermediate Create a small fabric collage in a day inspired by gardens in Summer. Kate will demonstrate techniques to create a floral border. We will start by adding foliage stencils to the coloured background, then we will use batik style and hand dyed fabrics collaged on top, with confetti fabric techniques and some hand sewn details to finish the piece. Each piece will be unique in colour and composition. What to bring: A mixture of fabrics to suit your composition: ideal cotton fabrics would be textured, mottled, batiks, or randomly dyed, or small patterns. Sewing kit, fabric scissors, some embroidery threads for finishing details. Small cutting mat, rotary cutter and quilters ruler, sponges/old plate, brush (for fabric paints), apron. Sewing machine. Free motion quilting foot ideally. Threads in greens, browns and flower colours. It is possible that not much machining will get done on the workshop day – just the composition. A packed lunch.
