Level: all levels welcome This class is designed to help us ‘loosen up’ whilst learning the basic principles of colour mixing, composition and brushwork. Aimed at those who would like to try oil paints for the first time and those that would like to find ways to loosen up their style and paint more freely. We will go ‘step by step’ through exercises to help us prepare our colours and surface ready for painting a single rose. We will simplify it down into basic shapes and tones then do a series of exercises that encourage us to paint confidenty in an economical yet inventive way! Are you intrigued? Be brave…let’s give it a try. What to bring: Brush Size 16 : Daler-Rowney Long Handle Synthetic Bright ‘Graduate’ (available from hobbycraft £3.30). Small flat 3mm brush (approx). ‘Liquin’ ** painting medium. Palette knife – eg. Winsor and Newton size 22. Paper Palette and a box to take your work home in. A jar and some low odour thinners/ white spirit substitute for cleaning brushes, some rags or plenty of tissues to wipe brushes clean. A ‘stay-wet’ palette if working in acrylics. A packed lunch.

Included on the day: All other materials not specified for students to bring. Expert tuition. 1 to 1 guidance. Detailed demonstrations. A selection of tea, freshly brewed coffee, biscuits and delicious cakes. If you have any specific dietary requirements or allergies, please feel free to bring along your own provisions/milk alternatives, etc. If you’re trying painting for the first time- starter boxes of paint can be bought from Micklems Farm for use on the day at additional cost of £6 per box. Selection of brushes £5. And of course you take your wonderful creations from the day. Terms - Fee is payable on booking. If, having booked, you can no longer attend, we are unable to offer a refund or transfer you to another workshop. However, you may nominate someone else to attend the workshop or class in your place by notifying us using the 'message the tutor' button. We reserve the right to cancel a workshop up to 48 hours prior to the workshop date. We will only cancel due to insufficient places sold and you will be refunded the full amount paid.
