Description
If you are interested in learning how to stone set semi precious and gem stones, along with learning basic Silversmithing skills then this is the course for you. The stone setting course is suitable for absolute beginners to people with some prior experience who may wish to build upon the skills they already have. The skills you will learn during the course are how to set semi precious and precious gem stones in many different types of sterling silver settings. Students will also learn how to anneal & shape the different metals into the desired jewellery shapes for the stones to be set, along with learning how to saw, soldier & cure the metals before finishing with buffing and polishing to a high shine finish. This course is very interactive and continued support is offered throughout the length of the course, whilst at the same time allowing students to work independently. The course runs for 2.5 hours each week, but on the odd occasion can slightly over run to enable students to complete the piece of jewellery they are working on.
