Stained Glass - Tealight Holders (1 day) in the Peak District
Description
Design and make a beautiful tealight holder using the copper foil (Tiffany) technique. This course is perfect for beginners. You will learn how to cut, shape and join glass to create your own 3D stained glass artwork which is also of practical use. Templates will be provided or you may wish to develop your own simple design. Celebrate your colour choices by flickering candle light! Develop basic skills and gain confidence with glass. I was a little apprehensive to work with glass but Kate instantly put me at my ease and I learned so much.” Tutor: Lin Fletcher Lin has been working with glass for over 20 years, focusing on bespoke pieces, restoration and teaching. Her most recent activities have been with a team of glaziers restoring the numerous windows of Manchester Town Hall. Health & Safety This workshop involves the handling and soldering of metals (specifically lead, tin and copper). It also requires the use of sharp materials, hot tools and chemicals. Protective goggles, gloves and dust masks will be provided. Whilst every effort is made to keep the studio environment safe and well ventilated, if you are pregnant or suffer from asthma or dermatitis, for your own assurance, we recommend you seek medical advice before booking this course. Start time: Join us from 9.30am for tea/coffee and introductions. Tuition starts at 10.00am. There are breaks for lunch and a tea & cake mid-afternoon. What's included in the price?
Fee includes professional tuition, lunch and refreshments - an additional materials fee applies. Materials fee: £10 per person. This covers all the glass, copper foil, solder and consumables required to make your tealight holder. A tasty light lunch is included in the course fee. Please let us know of any special dietary requirements. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available all day to help yourself and there will be home-made cake mid afternoon.
