Description
During this easy workshop you will create a beautiful solid silver leaf from Art Clay Silver paste, which you can then put on a sterling silver chain to take away and wear. Choose a leaf from the selection I provide from a variety of nearby plants, including our local national trust farm, my back garden, and the area around my workshop; or you can use one from your garden* or somewhere that has meaning for you. You need to make sure the leaves have lots of veins and detail on the back, if the leaf is smooth, it won't make a good piece. Suitable leaves include Oak, Beech, Blackberry, Sage, Strawberry and Nettle. Unsuitable leaves include Ivy, Holly and and waxy leaves. The leaf is made using silver clay paste, you do not need any previous experience in any form of craft, I will guide you through the process from beginning to end. The workshop includes all materials necessary to create one necklace from beginning to end. If you choose the online course, it will take place via the best media for us both, and can include zoom, freeconferencecall, facetime, skype etc. If you don't have the equipment required to complete the online course then a pack is available for a refundable deposit. if you have the equipment, I will send you the materials usually included in the course and a box to put your completed pieces in to return to me for firing.

A laptop, phone or tablet that will support the app, and that preferably works with the audio and video so I can help you if you need it. (I can help you set it all up if you need any help) There are a few extra things you will need from your home - A surface to roll out your clay - this could be an old tile, a baking tray, a coaster, a crepe pan, anything that is flat, smooth and wide enough to roll out your clay - A pot of water - Some kitchen towel or equivalent - a hairdryer to dry your clay inside your pack will be a box with some vermiculite in, which should keep your pieces safe when you post them back to me for firing, or alternatively, if you have a cooks torch or a gas hob at home, I will talk you through how to fire it yourself, and can even supervise online while you do that if you want me to.
