Screen printing on glass - Layered Landscapes

Description

Experience the unique process of enamel screen printing on glass and make a layered fused glass sculpture which can be used as a free standing piece or tea light shield. This half day course will take place in a dedicated workshop space in studio 10, Manchester Craft and Design Centre, led by resident glassmaker Helen Tiffany. Helen has over 15 years experience as a designer maker working with glass, creating her own collections of screen printed glassware and enamelled jewellery. Suited to both beginners and those with some experience of glass making or printing, you will learn the principals of screen printing and fused glass. The layered landscape course is also a great addition if you have been on a glass screen printing workshop before or equally if you have never tried the process. During the session you will work with coloured enamels in a very hands on and free way to produce painterly mono prints onto layers of glass. Helen will guide you through different techniques to form stencils and blend colours to add depth to your work. Everything you need to create your own imagery will be provided on the day but participants are welcome to bring inspiration or photographs along with them to work with. You are not limited to a landscape either! All materials and kiln firings are included in the ticket price and complimentary refreshments will be provided. You will have the opportunity to make one 15x10cm sculpture from multiple layers of glass. Finished pieces will be fired and shaped in the kiln within a few weeks of the workshop and can be collected from Helen’s studio, or postage can be arranged on the day. This course is suited anyone aged 14+, complete beginners or those with some screen printing or fused glass experience (under 18s accompanied by an adult booking)
