X

Description

Come and weave a beautiful rush hat with our highly skilled rush weaver Rosie Farey. On this two-day course rush basket maker Rosie Farey will teach you many traditional rush weaving techniques including, check weave, pairing, and track borders. You’ll get to know traditional rush materials and make your own ‘made to measure’ boater hat. You’ll be using English bulrush that Rosie harvests herself from the Somerset levels. Being so wonderfully soft and supple, weaving with rush is perfect for both beginners and those that have a bit of experience.

Greenwood Days have been running woodland craft courses since 1998, from a beautiful 90 acre wood in the National Forest on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border. We offer day, weekend, midweek and week-long courses ranging from traditional Windsor chair-making to contemporary willow sculpture, longbow making to spoon carving. Our tutors are all highly skilled professional craft workers who share our passion for preserving, promoting and passing on these crafts and techniques.
