Description

Ruth Wheeler has been a Woodcarver for 25 years. Working on large scale public art pieces, teaching in schools and running courses. This course is an introduction to the basics of carving a 2D Relief panel into seasoned local planks. A simple design (chosen by you) will be drawn or transferred onto the wood and then Ruth will guide you through using different gouges to cut in, carve out, detail and finishing the piece. You will get a choice on what size piece of wood and whether you want to finish something in a day, bring it back to work on and use my tools or carry on yourself. What you will get from the day? Ruth's guidance in what wood to use, favourite chisels, mallets and techniques. A knowledge so that you know what equipment to use if you want to. Access to a monthly membership to a makers club and reduced workshop fees .
