Rag rug making course in North Herefordshire
Description
Learn two traditional techniques in a day and make a sampler, a seat mat, or start a rug. Progging consists of pulling small rectangles of fabric through a hessian base to create a shaggy effect. Hooking is a traditional technique used for pictures made from thin strips of fabrics hooked into little loops on hessian backing. You can try both techniques or focus on one. Jenni's teacher made rag rugs for over 50 years and Jenni has enjoyed sharing the craft for years. Signed copies of her books 'More Rag Rugs & Recycled Textile Projects' & 'An Introduction to RAG RUGS - creative recycling' will be available at the workshop. (Warning - this craft can be addictive!)

Maker
Jenni has shared traditional rag rug techniques of hooking, progging and plaiting for many years. She believes in re-using, sourcing locally and treading lightly on the planet. Whilst bringing rag rug making into the twenty-first century, Jenni honours the generations of ordinary people who used their cast-off clothing to make warm mats and loves helping people to explore their creativity through such an accessible medium at courses locally and around the country.
