PROFESSIONAL TRAINING: MODULE 8 *PLEASE NOTE: To attend this course, you must already have some experience with industrial machines and be able to operate and set up a walking foot independently, or have attended our "Module 3 – Industrial Machine Training" UNDERSTAND HOW TO MAKE PATTERNS FOR BAGS – INTRODUCTION TO THE MAIN CONSTRUCTIONS This eighth module is the last of our four pattern-making lessons. It is part of a series of classes designed to provide thorough, professional training in leatherworking, pattern making, sewing, and accessory making. Each module has been carefully designed to equip individuals with key skills for starting a career in this sector, broadening their industry knowledge, or embarking on their own journey with solid foundational skills. This is an intense class designed for you to receive both theoretical and practical knowledge of pattern making and pattern development. During the lesson, you will learn about the fundamental constructions in bag making, from which all existing bags are developed. You will be instructed on how to create basic patterns of various shapes and will make your own patterns to take home with you. You will understand how to consider seam allowances, cutting margins, and trimming quotas when creating cutting patterns, as well as learning some vocabulary used in pattern making. To support you even further in your journey, you will receive a curated lists of leather and tool suppliers and pattern-making handouts for ongoing reference. SUMMARY OF TOPICS COVERED DURING THE CLASS: – Principles of pattern making for bags – Analysis of the main bag constructions – Pattern making and development for three-dimensional shapes BY THE END OF THE TUITION, YOU WILL HAVE: – Learnt how to develop patterns for simple three-dimensional shapes featuring gussets – Applied the concept of seam, folding, and trimming allowances when drafting patterns – Created finished patterns of various constructions for you to keep – Worked with a variety of tools for pattern making This tuition will require up to 7 hours to complete. We aim to provide customised and high-quality tuition services, and by limiting the class size to 6 students, we can focus on each participant’s needs. Depending on the number of attendees, the ability of participants and the group’s pace, the syllabus may be covered in a shorter time frame. For example, in the case of three attendees, the programme could be covered in approximately 5 hours.
