Polymer clay flower brooch / pendant

Description

One-of-a-kind wearable art jewellery handcrafted from polymer clay, using intricate techniques such as using silkscreens, making canes and mokume gane. Each piece is a fusion of vibrant colours and striking patterns, and allows for the artist’s own choice of colour palette, patterns and design, making each piece a unique fusion of colour, texture, pattern and form. Polymer clay allows for limitless possibilities, from bold statement pieces to delicate designs, resulting in jewellery that is not just an accessory, but an expression of individuality and artistic expression. On this course you will be given the choice of four different flower designs, and a wide variety of colour palettes prior to attending the day. You will learn how to use a pasta machine to condition clay and create blends of colour. You will learn how to make ‘canes’ (logs of clay similar to sticks of seaside rock, with the pattern running through them), choose from a large number of silkscreen designs and make a sheet of clay with the silkscreen pattern of choice, and learn the technique of mokume gane, a technique borrowed from the Japanese metalworking method of the same name, where layers of different coloured sheets of polymer clay are manipulated to create a unique pattern. You will learn how to finish off your brooch to a professional standard, and you will go home with a completed brooch and a brooch/pendant adaptor with choice of necklace so it can be worn as a pendant as well. In addition to the brooch/pendant you will have the opportunity to use the rest of the polymer clay veneers you've made to either cover a small glass jar or make an additional pendant.
