Pewter spoon making workshop at Manchester Craft and Design Centre

Description

A jam packed afternoon of spoon making with Ella at Manchester Craft and Design Centre. We will cover a whole variety of traditional pewtersmithing skills to create your own unique spoon design. Ella will guide you through each process with demonstrations as you learn how to hammer a flat sheet of metal into a spoon bowl. We will then use molten pewter to cast ingots for the handles before personalising your spoon using a variety of letter stamping, shaping and hammering before polishing for you to take home. A handmade spoon for lots of yummy treats! Suitable for beginners or those with previous silver or jewellery experience.

What's included in the price?

During this workshop Ella will provide all tools, materials and metal. Aprons provided. Please wear closed toed shoes only. If you do have any sketches, ideas or print outs of design ideas please do bring them along, the more the merrier. However, if you don't have anything to bring don't worry, Ella will have lots of inspiration on the day. Winter workshops - Our Victorian building can get chilly due to our glass roof. Please wear layers and bring an extra jumper. Teas, coffees and biscuits provided throughout the workshop. Manchester Craft and Design Centre is open to public with 20 craft studios and cafe.
