Paint and Clay: mixed media polymer clay workshop
Description
This workshop is all about playing with colour and pattern, and you don’t need to be naturally creative to achieve amazing results! Jo will show you how to develop your pattern sheet using watercolours, pastels, chalks, mica powders, foils, acrylics and more. We will play with textures, stencils and screen prints too. Once your sheet is complete, you will use it to produce a range of items - you could make a statement necklace and earrings, an intricately decorated shawl pin and some buttons, a collection of brooches or a mix of beautiful items - it’s up to you! Just come and have fun!

FAQs
Tea and coffee with semi skimmed milk, all materials and the use of tools and equipment are included. Silver and gold plate findings are supplied on my polymer clay workshops but you can purchase sterling silver options if you prefer. Sterling silver findings are provided on my silver clay workshops and you can purchase chains for any pendants if you want to.
You'll need to bring snacks, and a packed lunch. You might want a notebook and pen.
Any inspirational pictures you have, of what you'd like to make, are always a useful starting point too.
If you're coming to make buttons, a shawl pin or jewellery to go with a particular garment or fibre, please feel free to bring these with you so we can colour match effectively.
I'd recommend wearing layers as the studio is south facing and can get very warm, particularly in summer. In winter I light the log burner so it's cosy. You won't usually get messy and any media we use is washable.
IMPORTANT: if you're attending a silver clay workshop, you must not wear open toe sandals, tops with loose or floaty sleeves and long hair must be tied back.
The studio is located in the garden of my home, on the main road through from Lifton to Lewdown, also known as West Devon Highway (the old A30 before the dual carriageway was built). I'm 5 minutes from the Broadwoodwidger/Lifton junction of the A30, 10 minutes from Launceston, 20 minutes from Tavistock and 45 minutes from Plymouth and Exeter.
The SatNav postcode is PL16 0AS.
Yes, there's plenty of off-road, private parking on site.
Polymer clay and nail varnish do not mix well so you may not want to have a lovely manicure the day before the class! I also recommend you remove any ‘occasional’ rings for the duration of the workshop.
