Weaving a bark foraging basket at Greenwood Days
Description
Nadine from Greenfox Wild Crafts will be teaching this course. During the two days you’ll learn how to harvest, process and weave yourself a beautiful and practical foraging bag from sustainably coppiced willow bark. Bark is a fantastic material, harvested in the spring and summer time when the sap is running it can be processed and made into many beautiful, functional objects. On this course you will look at a selection of different barks and their uses, how to process the bark into usable material and how to store bark for later use. Nadine will then show you a range of items that can be made using this bark. You will use the bark that you have processed to weave a small foraging bag with a shoulder strap. While weaving your foraging bag you will also learn how to process other materials such as nettles, horseradish and various leaves for cordage. Greenwood Days have been running woodland craft courses since 1998. The course centre is set in a beautiful 90 acre wood in the National Forest on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border.
