Making small 3D structural bases for mosaic.
Description
In this one day workshop, you will learn the basics of how to create a weatherproof 3D base for mosaicing. You will learn how to create basic shapes from polystyrene and wedi foam board. This will include shaping the substrates with a rasp and using cutting tools. Once you have created your shape, you will then learn how to modify these to mount them onto stakes for display, and how to cover them with weatherproof material that will provide a surface to mosaic on. There will be semi pre-prepared bases provided to carry out next steps, while your adhesives are drying on your first bases. We will be working on about three different projects to take into account drying times. Please note, we will not actually be doing any mosaic in this workshop, we will simply be creating the blank base to work on. I will however advise on the best adhesives etc to use on them when you want to mosaic them. There will be semi pre-prepared bases provided to carry out next steps while your adhesives are drying on your first bases. This workshop is aimed at people with some experience in mosaic who want to take their mosaic art to the next level.
