Description
In a small group of up to 4 students you'll learn how to make a pattern to fit your own knife or axe, with the all important welt to protect the cutting edge. You'll learn the basics of leatherwork, all about the materials and tools, cutting and preparing natural vegetable tanned leather, traditional hand stitching techniques and finishing details. You'll have the opportunity to use a range of styles and personalise your work, and you'll go home with a beautiful unique handmade item. As this is a full day workshop, please bring a packed lunch. Tea and homemade cake is provided to keep your energy and creative levels up. If you enjoy this introduction to leatherwork and would like to continue making some other projects at home, you'll be able to purchase a ‘Beginner’s Toolkit’ and a choice of vegetable tanned leather to get you started.
