Living Willow Harlequin Tree and large living structure workshop on a community farm
Description
Join willow artist Jacquie from Willow and Crafts for this fun and interactive event. This hands-on workshop will teach you the techniques needed to craft beautiful and sustainable structures using natural materials, and is perfect for anyone looking to get creative and connect with nature. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to learn a new skill and enjoy a day outdoors at this lovely city farm. Option one: - Half day activity. - Morning session, you will create your willow harlequin tree using my freshly cut organically grown willow. Option two: - Full day workshop. - After we have created our harlequin trees we will break for lunch, then we we will look at what is needed to design and scale this up to create large living structures such as a fedge, arbour, or dome. We will explore the practicalities of choosing the site, planning and creating the structure, choosing the willow, how to look after the plants, preparing the site, aftercare and basic maintenance. Then we will work together as a group to put what you have learned into practice and create a full-size arbour which will stay on the farm. You will also have the opportunity to wander around the farm and visit the animals, the small city farm is home to over 40 re-homed, rescued, and lifelong animals. PLEASE NOTE: This is quite a physically demanding activity and you will need a good level of manual dexterity. We will be bending over and kneeling at times and we will be standing much of the time the activity may involve clearing grass and digging. We will be outside much of the time/under cover for some of the time, you will need to wear practical outdoor, warm clothing and footwear.
