Kintsugi workshop (using modern method)
Description
Embrace the concept of healing & repair with Kintsugi - the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with gold. The class is taught by artist and teacher Louise Gridley, Sugi Ceramics. In this workshop you will repair a broken ceramic item and apply gold pigment to highlight and celebrate the restored fragments. This adult workshop is for all abilities - no prior experience necessary! Older teens also welcome. Bring your own small ceramic item (to your taste!) to repair. Alternatively you may purchase (at a small price!) a piece at the class to break and repair. Please note, your repaired item will not be suitable for functional use. It will be suitable for decorative use within your home. This class is at the Self Centre, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

Maker
Louise is a practicing artist, well-known within the local community with her public art displayed in the town of Bury St Edmunds. From her Suffolk-based studio Louise produces ceramics inspired by the female form. As a member of CPA and Anglian Potters Louise regularly exhibits. Louise is a teacher of 23 years; she currently teaches part-time at a Sixth Form College in Suffolk and leads workshops and classes within the local community. She brings fun, passion and energy to her workshops and classes making the arts accessible to all.
