What's included in the price?
In the “Introduction to Bread Making” class you’ll get to make and bake a range of different types of breads: a delicious farmhouse white tin loaf, French Fougasse, Irish Soda Bread and Seeded Bread Rolls. You’ll take all of the bread home with you together with detailed instructions on how to make bread in your own home. A vegetarian lunch is provided and there’s also lots of bread and other baked treats to try too!

Friendly, fun and inspirational baking classes in beautiful surroundings. StagHill Bakes is a passion project for Ian Brownhill and Michael Hirschl. Both are experienced and enthusiastic bakers who are now sharing their knowledge, skills and expertise with others. Ian is passionate about breads whilst Michael uses his Austrian baking heritage to show people how to make a range of delicious baked products.

We are based in the small village of Hawton, on the outskirts of Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire. Being close to the A46 and A1 makes us convenient for people travelling from Lincoln, Nottingham, Leicester and further afield.
The class runs from 10:00am to approximately 3pm (end time depends on how active the dough is on the day)
All of the baking classes take place within our home environment. We use a range of ingredients in our baking including sesame and peanuts and so we cannot guarantee that our food and drinks are allergen-free. Please contact for further information.
Yes.
We’re easy to get to from both Newark Northgate mainline and Newark Castle stations. You will need to hire a taxi at the station to get to us as there is no regular bus service to the village.
