Technical woodwork and furniture building course. Mortice and tenon joints are used for many different types of construction including the construction of tables, chairs, windows, doors, stools, and other structures. There are many different types of joints including through tenon, blind tenon and haunched tenon. Here we look at all the common and unusual joints in furniture making: - Learn the language of woodworking joints and warps - face, edge, end, shoulders, etc. - Door construction. - Expansion and contraction of wood. - Design techniques for overcoming expansion and contraction problems. - Wood properties and cuts. - Making mortice and tenon by hand and with power tools. - Biscuit joinery. - Pocket hole joinery. Local train station is approx 10 mins walk and parking is available at the workshop.
