Hand spinning course - absolute beginners

Description

My Grandmother first started teaching me to spin when I was four years old. I used to go with her to all the local county shows and 'help'! It's such a wonderful hobby and especially with todays emphasis on sustainability and self sufficiency, it's an invaluable skill. This introduction to spinning is perfect for anyone wanting to have a go and learn a bit about the craft. Spend the day spinning your own skein of yarn to take home whilst learning the background and process from sheep to shoulder. You will be using an Ashford Traditional spinning wheel and there will be demonstrations on using various equipment such as carders, niddy noddys and ball winders. You will receive a free goody bag that includes fleece of your choice to spin with that day and a few surprise extras! There is also information and handouts from the day. Should you wish to practice these skills further or spin more yarn to make something out of, you can book to use the equipment at an additional rate. There are limited spaces available so secure your booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment! Alternatively, you can enquire for a one to one session, I am willing to travel a reasonable distance from North Dorset.

What's included in the price?

All equipment and materials are provided along with some learning resources. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day but please bring a packed lunch. A goody bag is also included!
