Glass Fusing Essentials for Beginners - Fusion inclusion with Vitreus Art
Description
Discover the world of glass fusing on our one-day introduction we call 'Fusion/Inclusion' Make your own fused glass art using coloured frits, metal wires and foils, stencils and other 'inclusions' - with no glass cutting required! On this class, you will learn about the fusing process, the basics of glass compatibility, the use of coloured frits and other inclusion materials. You will also get a glimpse into how we'll use our kiln to fire your pieces! Using pre-cut clear glass you will add different colours of glass frit, copper wire, tin foil, etc to one layer of glass – these inclusions will then be enclosed beneath a second layer, creating a glass sandwich, ready to be fused in the kiln! You will have the opportunity to make either 3 wall or window hanging pieces or 6 coaster sized pieces. You are welcome to bring sketches, ideas, or internet pages to use as your design elements. Most importantly bring an open mind! As the firing takes many hours, your pieces will be available to collect a few days after the course. Alternatively, we can post your pieces for a small extra charge. On the day The class starts at 10-30 am with health & safety guidelines; please arrive a little before to allow for introductions and a hot drink. The class ends at around 5 pm, but don’t worry - we won’t send you home until all your glass pieces are ready to go into the kiln!
