Christmas decorations in fused glass course at Rainbow Glass Studios
Description
A day making your own fun fused glass Christmas decorations for your tree or home (or to give as as gifts this year!) What will it be? Snowmen, snowflakes, holly wreaths, Christmas puddings? Or perhaps reindeer, stars, glass trees or robins? (Students make on average around 12 decorations or sometimes more in one day!) Some choose to make a larger piece such as a fused glass wave with a Christmas scene that stands up alongside some smaller decorations. We'll learn how to safely cut and combine glass into a variety of festive shapes ready to fire them up in the kiln. Covering a wide range of decorative techniques, you'll also learn to use glass media (frit, stringers, inclusions, mica, paint) to personalise your pieces. No previous experience is needed, and this course is open to students over the age of 16 years. All materials are included. (We will also enrol children from 12 years old, if also accompanied by a fee paying adult.) Due to the continued need to socially distance we now limit our courses to a maximum of 5 people at a time in our studio space to allow for this. The added benefit to students being smaller classes with more 1:1 attention possible. PPE Face Visors will be provided which we will ask all students to wear whilst in the studio, (or a face mask if you prefer). Your pieces will be fired up after the course and ready for collection later in the week, or you can choose to have them posted to you if this would be more convenient at an additional fee for P+P (usually around £10-£15, via Royal Mail, signed for second class post, depending on overall weight) There is a limit of 6 people on the course as we spend the day creating fused glass creatures, snowflakes, trees, robins, stars, snowmen....you dream it up, we'll work out how to make it together! NB: Please see the 'View course organiser's' link above for the availability of spaces on these courses and to book your place. Please note: this course takes place in a working glass studio and not a classroom setting, so participants need to be able and prepared to stand to cut glass and to work at the benches. (we have some stools available in between times). If you have any questions relating to mobility, please contact us first. Thank you.
What's included in the price?

Maker
I'm Eleanor, I'm a jeweller and glass maker and I love colour, texture, design and pattern. I work across all of these in a variety of media including fused glass, enamel, silver, copper, anodised aluminium creating my one-off jewellery and glass pieces. I retrained as a jeweller in 2012, and I work with my husband at Rainbow Glass Studios where I thoroughly enjoy teaching weekend courses in glass and enamelling. I believe everyone has creativity and I want to encourage you to explore yours!
