Description
A fun day workshop suited to complete beginners. Experiment and explore wet felt-making with a variety of wool and plant fibres. Learn how to lay out your fibre and paint a picture using the wools, try out carders for blending to make a colourful textural felted picture. With highly experienced fibre artist and tutor Josephine Gornall. Lots of samples of felt making to look at in my studio in Halifax, West Yorkshire where the class is based. We start with a practical demonstration of felt-making, an exploration and chat about all the different wool and plant fibres that I have available for you to use. Then you will get to make your own felted wool picture. You can choose to make a seascape, landscape, floral composition or go abstract. Select from a wide choice of gorgeous coloured wools, plant fibres and textural yarns. Explore mixing wool colours with carders and different types of fibres together. Learn about the differing properties of wool and plant fibres, plus the lovely effects that can be achieved. Try out embedding wool/plant fibres and yarns into the felted surface to create texture and form in your felted picture. Private bespoke workshops are available for families and friends in my studio, or another venue, including one to ones. Please get in touch via the 'message the tutor' button to discuss the options and possibilities.
