Exploring British Breed Wools - Spinning & Weaving Workshop

X

Description

This day session with Penny Dixon will introduce you to the wonderful world of fibres, beginning with identifying different types of British wool. You will then learn how to use carding combs to align the fibres and make your own art yarn using a drop spindle. You will also be able to explore adding in other fibres to create some fabulous skeins of wool. You will also be shown how to set the twist in a yarn and how to create a 2 ply for even more interest. You will then apply your new skills to produce small decorative woven pieces using small and easy vintage table top looms. You can use your newly spun yarn or choose from a fabulous selection of commercial wools to create a small mat or mini wall hanging. No previous experience is required. There are some repetitive techniques which we will adapt to your own skill and muscle dexterity.
