Drawing with Steel with London Sculpture Workshop
Description
The aim of this 2-day course is that you can explore new ways of conceiving sculpture and drawing. We will explore the space, the volume and different types of lines from a new perspective, considering the light, shadows and interstices between the lines as part of the work as well. The course will cover the techniques of bending, cutting, grinding, rolling & shaping steel rods. It will cover MIG welding for beginners and advanced. Students will work on individual sculpture/s or projects. If you don’t have a project yet, no worries, we will discuss and give shape to your ideas. Small group numbers allows 1:1 tuition for participants on this course.
What's included in the price?
Day one Initial introduction to drawing in the space including volume, line, and modulating the line in the space. Light, projections and shadows will also be discussed. Intro to some interesting artists working on the field. Introduction to the workshop practice and possibilities of materials. Students will be encouraged to create a design with wire and then reproduce it with steel rods. Day two Students will work on individual sculpture/s or projects, research new possibilities and processes and will be shown finishing processes.

London Sculpture Workshop (LSW) is a not for profit CIC and artist led maker space, founded in 2012 by graduates from The Royal College of Art (RCA) and The Slade School of Fine Art as an open access sculpture workshop with a short course programme.
