Create a willow deer in the heart of the New Forest

X

Description

Create your small willow deer totally from willow in this fun and hands-on workshop. The activity is perfect for most skill levels. You will learn plenty of new skills and make your unique creation, where you will choose the breed type that you want to make at this lovely village hall in the heart of the New Forest. The animal will be approximately 55cm to the top of its head, not including horns, which will add further height. The deer can be standing with its head upright or facing down as if it is eating. You will need good hand dexterity as you will use threading, twisting and pulling movements. We will also be standing quite a lot. As we all work at different speeds, sometimes students take more time than others, and prefer to take home materials to carry on at home which is fine.

FAQs

It is often best to start with an activity that offers a variety of small items or a larger shape that is relatively straightforward such as a bird workshop
You are welcome to join us for a more detailed workshop but please be aware that you may not make such a detailed version as someone who has more experience

If you are someone who prefers working on small precise works I  suggest starting with the workshops where we create several smaller items e.g Xmas crafts, garden items, small birdhouses, baskets, etc. For those of you who like to experiment and see what happens, you might prefer something more sculptural to be fair there is no one way and you never know until you try  it will be fun  which ever you decide to do.
