Slip-cast Workshop: Cheese & Charcuterie Board

Description

Join us for a delightful workshop where you’ll create a stunning marble slip-cast cheese and charcuterie board complete with a marbled Camembert bowl or 2 small dishes. It’s the perfect way to combine creativity and culinary charm! You will learn the art of marble slip-casting whilst learning basic slip-casting and fettling skills in this 1 hour class. When you leave, they will be fired once they are dry, glazed by me and a final firing before they are sent to you within 2-3 weeks OR you can collect the pieces from the studio. This is a small intimate class of 2 people, so why not bring a friend and enjoy this class together! These are Adult classes for ages 18 and above.

What to Expect - Introduction to Slip-Casting: Learn the basics of slip-casting, which involves pouring liquid clay (slip) into moulds to create various shapes. - Marbling Techniques: Understand how to mix different coloured slips to achieve the marbled effect. - Mould Preparation: Get tips on preparing your moulds for slip-casting, ensuring they are clean and ready for use. - Pouring the Slip: Learn the correct method for pouring the marbled slip into moulds to achieve the best results. - Finishing Touches: Discover how to finish your pieces after they have been cast, including trimming, fettling, refining the marbled patterns, and preparing them for firing. - Firing Process: Gain insight into the firing process and how it affects the final look of your marbled ceramics. - Glazing: Bryony will finish these pieces with a transparent glaze, enhancing the marbled colours in the clay. The glaze will make the items food safe and sealed, ready for everyday use.
