Create a beautiful garden planter or bird bowl for your garden in a weekend , hand crafted by yourself from Bath Stone. This workshop is held in my large spacious workshop, where social distancing can easily be achieved. Maximum 4 students per course. During the workshop I will teach you a range of stone carving skills to enable you to create beautiful planter or bird bowl for your garden. On this two day course you will gain a wide range of techniques involved in the hand carving of stone. On day one you will learn a range of stone carving techniques using a range of chisels and a mallet. Begin by carving a block of Bath stone into a cylinder, then learn how to shape curves, and how to hollow out. We will also plan and design the decoration of your planter. On day two you will transfer your designs on to the bowl and use various decorative techniques to pattern the stone. You will also learn how to finish the top to a contrasting smooth surface. Then plant your planter ready to take home. No previous experience required. Zoe exhibits her sculpture and letter cutting in exhibitions and galleries across the UK as well as working on private and public commissions from her studio in East Cornwall. The stone carving studio in which this course runs is situated in the Tamar Valley with gardens and woodland to explore.

What's included in the price?

Tea and coffee, biscuits , stone block, use of tools and materials, and a plant for your bowl are all included. Face masks and gloves are also available
