Description
Knife Making Class. Spend the day learning the tips and tricks of professional knife and blade making at Phoenix Forge. We start out with a simple forging exercise to get you warmed up and used to working with the forge, after a cuppa we get started on forging a true working knife. One the one day class we typically make something similar to a pairing knife for the kitchen. We go from selecting the right type of tool steel in to forging a rough blade shape out, then the shape is refined by grinding on the bevels. From there we demonstrate how to heat treat. We finish the day by making a suitable handle to fit your knife and hands. By the end of the day everyone will have forged a knife to take away with them. The class is for over 18’s only or for under 18's accompanied by a guardian.
What's included in the price?
All the tools, materials, P.P.E (safety glasses, hearing protection, apron, etc) Free tea, coffee and Squash provided. But please bring your own packed lunch along. You will need to wear work type clothes, no nylon or synthetics etc. – (Jeans and T shirt most appropriate expect sparks & flames) Also safety boots are preferred other wise leather or walking boots are best, no open toed footwear is allowed in the forge for safety reasons.
