Description
Basic tiling course. This is a skills-based class where students cut tiles and learn cutting equipment and techniques. We do not mix adhesive and lay any tiles in this class. Content score (practical/info-theory): 2/5 Learn the basics such as: - Preparing the room for tiling. - Laying out your tiles and working out how many you need. - Levelling the floor. - How to cope with tiling difficult areas such as uneven walls. - Explaining adhesives used for different surfaces. - Demonstrating and examining all the tools required. - Cut in straight & curved lines, notching, removing the centre of a tile. - Explaining tiling involving borders, diamonds, and patterns. - Spacers and wedges. - The use of edge trim around sills and corners. - How to cut around windows and reveals. - How to tile around sockets and switches. - How to tile splash-backs. - How to tile around pipes, showers, cabinets etc.
What's included in the price?
Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. There is no lunch provided, so bring your own, or there is a local shop 1 min drive away. The local train station is approx 10 mins walk and parking is available at the workshop. Please wear warm clothes in the winter. The workshop can feel very cold due to the concrete floors in the building.
