Description

This unique wooden barn owl has been carved from local sustainable timber, and treated with a clear wood preservative. The measurements of the barn owl are approximate and are as follows: Width: 22 centimetres Height: 60 centimetres Depth: 30 centimetres I am inspired by the wildlife that surrounds my home in West Wales and enjoy sculpting the forms of a variety of animals.

How this was made

The barn owl has been carved using chainsaws and power tools. It is burned to bring out the grain and then sanded. It is then painted with an airbrush to give each one its own features. Each sculpture is made individually and therefore may not be identical in size and appearance to the photos shown. E.g. the barn owl could be facing to the right or to the left. Please message me via the 'message the tutor' button if you have a preference, or any questions, about the sculpture you'd like to purchase. Each carving is carved from a single piece of green wood, and so minor cracks and splits will occur as it dries. To avoid major cracks, keep away from direct sunlight or heat sources i.e. wood burners, radiators etc. I highly recommend applying a coat of exterior wood oil annually, such as decking oil, to maintain the colour and for resilience against the elements.
