All Day Enamelling & Mosaic Workshop to Create a SunCatcher
Description
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with us and learn two new skills, make a memory AND have fun, by creating your own striking Suncatcher in mosaic and enamel for your garden. A collaboration with Katie Sanderson, a local enamel artist and teacher, and Rachel Shilston, Mosaic artist and teacher to bring you a unique and exciting all-day workshop experience, where you can try your hand at two crafts in one day to create one very special piece for your garden. You will get three hours with each of us. With Katie you will be creating kiln fired enamelled flowers to attach to the mosaic. You will learn how to: * Cut and shape the copper into flowers. * Apply the enamel to copper using various techniques. * How to fire your own work (everything is fired and finished on the same day) This is an introduction to enamelling and requires no previous experience. You will be able to create 3-4 flowers and you will have a huge array of enamel colours to play with! The enamelling will all be completed that day ready to attach to the finished mosaic. Then with Rachel you will create your mosaic using the direct method and will use a combination of colourful vitreous glass tiles, ceramic beads and mirror to coordinate with your enamelled flowers. No experience necessary, suitable for beginners. We won't have time to grout during the workshop as the adhesive will still be wet, but you will be given a short demo and enough grout to finish your piece off at a later date. (Suncatcher measures approximately 30 x 7cm and is suitable for outdoors. Please note, shepherds crook is not included)

Maker
Over the past 14 years I have explored enamelling through experimentation. After first being introduced to it by my mum, who packed me off to Nottinghamshire with a kiln and a box of enamel powders. I then became mainly self taught through embracing the freedom of the kiln. I’ve expanded on that first box of enamel powders, and now bring in many techniques to my pieces and my teaching.
