Description

We have an amazing and unique experience to make a 60 layer damascus knife or axe. We will cover every aspect from basic forging techniques and hammer control, then grinding and profiling followed by heat treatment and fitting the handle. Day 1 starts with you making your own damascus billet, it’s a thrilling experience with sparks flying and the use of seriously heavy duty machinery, or if you wish you can do it manually with a great deal of hammering. Day 2 and 3 drawing and planning your knife/axe, then move on to the magic of drawing out your design from an innocuous piece of metal. Once you’re happy with the knife/axe shape and design we start to construct the handle and any other decorative touches you want added. By the end of the course you will take home a beautiful and functional piece of art. If you’re daring enough we also offer a Forged in Fire testing session, and video for an additional fee. This is a three day course.
