Description
This workshop is suitable for beginners with no previous jewellery making experience. This workshop will be hosted at Craft Connections, Consett on Thursday evenings between 18:00 - 20:00 over a 6 week period, allowing attendees to build upon techniques week by week. On this workshop you'll learn how to use wire and beads to create a huge variety of jewellery. Here's what to expect; Week 1: Learn to make basic 'p loops' and 'eye loops' an essential technique to connect sections of wire/beads together to create earrings, charms, bracelets and necklaces. Week 2: Learn to form wires using freeform techniques using pliers, creating spirals and hearts. You'll have an introduction to hammering in this session. Week 3: Learn to create your own beads using wire. Use these within your designs. Week 4: Learn how to use a wire jig to create different shapes. An introduction to wire wrapping to add beads will be given. Week 5: Learn to make wire wrapped rings in a variety of designs, incorporating beads for a pop of colour. Week 6: Learn how to make basic findings such as ear hooks, hoops and clasps allowing you to customise your designs further. During this workshop refreshments will be provided. Places are limited to twelve people on this workshop to allow individuals sufficient time with Lindsay to assist with each project. Please note that any sessions missed will not be caught up upon, but you will receive the materials, please check you can commit to the full 6 weeks as much as possible.

Lindsay Forbes has worked in the jewellery industry since graduating in 3D Design in 2010. Working in a variety of areas from retail to repair, she has a great amount of knowledge in jewellery design and technical skills in goldsmithing. Following her passion for designing and making jewellery she founded her own business; Laconic. Passing on knowledge and skills is something that Lindsay enjoys doing and creating a fun, friendly environment where people can come to relax, be creative and learn and so 'Bench Box' was created!
