Description
With upcycled materials, learn to make gorgeous, versatile rolled and stitched fabric pots. Fancy a champagne cooler, a seasonal plant holder or a bowl to gift to family and friends – the choice is yours. Bring your own special fabric to imbue your vessel with personal meaning. Local artist & designer, Wendy Gray invites you to come along to her woven vessel workshop and enjoy a fun and relaxing few hours learning how to construct strong, colourful and memory provoking fabric pots. This craft offers infinite possibilities from broad based bowls for fruit to more ambitious structures like Wendy’s. You might not have time to finish your individual design in class but will leave with the know-how to complete it at home and move on to more ambitious vessels. Wendy developed her fabric pots from her love of travel, exploring various cultures, their colours and textiles. Having lived overseas for 6 years see had gathered a huge collection of fabrics, each provoking memories of trips and friends she travelled with. Wendy encourages you to learn how to coil and weave your memories into your pots using fabrics you bring along to the workshop and maybe share those memories over a cuppa whilst weaving. It could be a memory of a loved one, childhood, special event or even your favourite pair of old ripped jeans you can’t bear to part with. The binding of your materials with coloured threads will always compliment your fabric choices. This coiling technique offers you variety in the shape and structure of your pot. The workshop includes rope, thread, scissors, needles and some fabric to get you started. We would ask you to bring pieces of fabric and/or items of clothing from home to personalise your pot further.
