Description
Zoe Gertner specialises in teaching woodcarving, her tuition being for people of any age from 8 years upwards and from all walks of life. Zoe is a fully qualified teacher who writes regularly for the 'Woodcarving' Magazine and she has been running woodcarving classes for many years. Zoe teaches all types of carving skills including carving in relief and in the round, creative sculpture, lettering, utilitarian items such as signboards or decoration and carving detail on furniture and boxes, according to your particular interest. Our Day Taster Sessions are very flexible so please get in touch to arrange convenient dates. You are welcome to come for weekends or more than one day. Teaching is 1-1, or 1-2 and complete beginners are especially welcomed as are the retired and those who feel they have no artistic ability. Children are welcome but must be over 8 years old and accompanied by a family adult participating at the same time. We can usually arrange accommodation for students in the Studio and well behaved pets/non participating partners are also welcome to stay. A professional woodcarver, Zoe's carvings can be found in Somerset churches as well as in private collections all over the world. Over the years she has contributed to both 'Traditional Woodworking' magazine and 'Woodcarving' magazine as well as its two books of articles 'The Woodcarvers' and 'Wood Carving for Beginners' published by GMC Publications. Her book 'Woodcarving - A Foundation Course' covers everything a beginner needs to know.
