Description
Make decorative wire insects inspired by butterflies, moths and dragonflies that you could hang on the wall or sit on a shelf or your mantelpiece. I'll show you how to use wire and beads to create your own unique insect. The insect bases can be made with silver plated or copper wire, the copper wire can also be oxidised to create a dark grey colour as you can see in the dragonfly here. Templates are provided for you to follow, or if you prefer you can use your imagination for your colour palettes and shapes, taking inspiration from real insects if you like. My examples here have their foundation in observation, but have developed in their own unique way, which is part of the joy of making. To give you an idea of size, these examples range from about 10-14cm in width. This workshop is beginner friendly and you don't need any experience of working with wire to enjoy it.
