Half-day pottery wheel throwing workshop for two people in Brighton
Description
Come and get your hands dirty and have a go at throwing on a potter's wheel. A completely different experience to hand-building, throwing is slippery, tricky and lots of fun. In this three hour workshop I will demonstrate how to throw a simple pot, and you will then get the opportunity to try centering the clay, opening it out and pulling up the walls, before shaping it into a pot. If we have time you will also get to trim your own pots too. The wheel can take time to learn, so if it's your first time throwing clay, you may need some help from me to make a serviceable piece that can be used and decorated! It's a lot of fun though, and great to give it a go and get a bit messy! The pieces you make will be fired and dipped in your choice of glaze and you can collect them or I can arrange to have them posted to you. The course can run from 10am - 1pm or 2 - 5pm. Please contact me to find out what dates I have available - I will try to be as flexible as I can but usually run workshops on Saturdays or Sundays. I only have two wheels, so can only accommodate two people at these workshops.

Maker
In my own work, I use clay to celebrate the beautiful and diverse human body, by sculpting body parts onto beautiful and functional pieces of ceramics. I run occasional one-day workshops where you can make your own piece of body positive pottery. I also run regular pottery classes from my studio in Brighton, which are suitable for anyone and students are free to choose what they make. My classes are small (maximum 7 students), so lots of 1-2-1 attention (and tea!) is provided.
