Description
Brian and Nicki love teaching a variety of willow weaving courses in the beautiful Surrey Hills near Dorking. The course starts with a cup of tea or coffee on arrival and an introduction to willow, where it is grown, its preparation and the different varieties you can weave with. Not for complete beginners, The Tiffin is an old design that has been revamped so it can be made by people who have made a few baskets and know the three rod wale and how to manage their uprights. Step-by-step we take you through the process so you create your own unique basket. Working from a an oak base that we have cut, sanded, drilled and oiled in preparation for you, we insert the uprights learning a basic trac border. The different varieties of willow are then woven in using a three rod wale, inserting the leather handles near the top. Finished off with a different trac border, you have created a beautiful, functional basket for your lunch, handbag or Gin and tonics on that special outing.
