Stone Carving ' Portraits, shapes & Characters '
Description
Pick a stone shape that suits you and your own design. We start with drawings and a short study of the anatomy of the face, and then translate it into a portrait or character that may be hiding in the stone. If you want to do an animal or shape, we welcome and encourage this also. We go through demonstrations in carving techniques and how to get the best out of each chisel. Once you have settled on a design, you work at your own pace, and get plenty of help from Kezia throughout the day. The venue is an old Granary near ancient woodland and redwood trees. It's a beautiful place to be, but it can be cold, so wear layers you don't mind getting dusty, with sensible shoes. Days like these usually end with dusty smiles and folks wanting to take up stone carving!
