Tray making workshop using the technique of steam bending wood
Description
This is a workshop for adults wanting to get really hands on with wood in a completely new way. Don't be put off if you have never worked with wood before - this is not traditional wood work (it's much more fun!) There is minimal demonstration from us during this workshop. Our goal is to get you involved and steam bending within a very short time of arriving. You will experiment with steam bending under our supervision and learn about the possibilities and limitations of the Oak wood through your own creations. The day will be spent learning the four main techniques of steam bending and from these creating your own stylish tray. We will also work with the wonderfully sustainable material of cork to create your tray base. This is one of the many times throughout the day you will be able to customise your tray by selecting your favourite finish. Your wood choices and oiling options will enable you to have the creative freedom to make the piece you are working on completely unique to you. Participants on our courses usually end the day amazed by not only the capabilities of the unique technique of steam bending but by the creations they are taking home with them. We hope you will join us and come away with some exciting creations and an experience you will be talking about for years to come. Maximum of 7 places available per workshop. If you would like to book a private group course with us please contact to arrange an alternative date.
